Design Statement: The Royal Family deals with the theatre and how generations of thespians can poison the family tree. The Cavendish duplex is large with a grand staircase as the runway into the stage that is their home. Overall there is a delineation of levels and descent to subtly reflect the conflict of family lines in the play. It is cluttered with theatre paraphernalia, flowers in varying states of life, and furniture with a vague European flare found in many a prop warehouse. The actions of the play require an interior set of doors and passageways akin to the often tight chaotic nature of backstage.
