A puppet made for a 'Design for the Stage' class while studying "A Doll's House."
Design Statement:
Having chosen Torvald as the subject of my puppet, I seek to explore how to represent Torvald’s inner emptiness as a human as a result of only caring to focus on the socially acceptable, beautiful, and shallow facets of life in his specific class of society. A humanoid collection of Nora’s belongings and things associated with her through both plays would make up Torvald’s inner image on how he reflected himself in the perfect image she provided him. Torvald becomes the substance of what he loses because he’s built himself up out of materialistic possessions, and considered Nora a doll and something to own rather than something to love.
